Kelly

We were suppose to meet Kelly in the lobby of our hotel at 1 pm today- we went across the street for a quick lunch and while we were eating, someone tapped me on the shoulder and said hello- I turned around wondering who in China would know me and there was Kelly! At KFC! We finished lunch and went back to the hotel to do a little paperwork. We realized very quickly what a sweet girl she is. She has smiled all day. She also holds doors open for everyone and always makes sure that no one is left behind anywhere we go. She insisted in carrying our bag when we left a store. We can't, however, communicate very well. She isn't really understanding much of what we say. I am hoping that tomorrow when we go back to the orphanage she will get her translator. I know that she will pick the language up very quickly but it really makes for some awkward times and frustrating too- we really want to be able to talk to her. Well, we are all tired and we have to get up early in the morning.

Praise God!! What a wonderful surprise!

Kim, you can translate text through Google! Go to translate.google.com . You can type in English and she can read it in Chinese! One of the big advantages of having an older daughter! :)

So happy for all of you! Kelly is just beautiful! :)

what an amazing story. I'm sure no one else can say they met their daughter in a KFC in China! Great Family Day Story. Kelly is so cute and I am so happy to hear that she is sweet. We cannot wait to meet her!
Praying for you and communication. We know how that is, in China we depended on our guide a lot. A few times he even came to our room and just spent time translating for us to get to know each other and to explain some things to Lily. It is a little different with an older child because they need to know things... Love, Jennifer

Kim,
I jumped over here from RQ....Kelly is beautiful! And I have loved reading about your time in China. She seems to have adjusted so well already!

We have a bio son (3), and adopted daughter from China (2), and we'll be traveling in June or July to bring home our 12-yr-old daughter. It's been so encouraging to read about your experience, and I feel like I will learn alot from you, expecially with language acquisition, etc. If you have any advice to share along the way, I'd love to hear it! Also, I'd love to know where you bought all of Kelly's cute clothes! :) With two toddlers, I'm definitely not "in-the-know" with teen and pre-teen fashions. :)

My email is kelley.b.brown@gmail.com.

Blessings,
Kelley
